KALEIDOSCOPE COLUMN (FOR COLOGNE)

2014

Sculpture: Styrofoam. 80 x 360 x 280 cm

Model: Styrofoam, acrylic. 33 x 24 x 26 cm

A model of one of the exhibition space’s central columns was constructed in scale 1:10 and fitted with two mirrors. Between the two mirrors models of five geometric styrofoam sculpture forms were placed so that the mirroring created the illusion of forms placed all around the pillar.
The model with the loose sculpture forms was transported to Cologne and a random arrangement thus created from the transport. In the exhibition space a full scale arrangement was recreated according to the model, but completing the arrangement all around the column that in the model only was an illusion.
