From the open source database for 3D models, Thingiverse, where model data for 3D printing is available, a selection of models were downloaded. These were selected because of their sculptural qualities, but were also all intentioned to be 3D printed as spare parts or upgrades for 3D printers themselves.
Instead of 3D printing the objects, they were reconstructed in paper and photographed in the way they would be presented on the Thingiverse website.
